Graveside services for James “Jerry” Ellis, 87, Bakersfield, Missouri, will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 23, 2020, at the Shrable Cemetery, Vidette, Arkansas, with Brother Roy Moss officiating, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.
He was born the son of the late Gilbert Ellis and Fannie Barnett Ellis, on December 21, 1932 in Ott, Arkansas and died July 21, 2020 in West Plains, Missouri.
He was united in marriage September 15, 1950 in Salem, Arkansas to Mary Lee Morrison.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Morrison Ellis, of the home, Bakersfield, Missouri; two sons, James Terry Ellis and wife Diana, Bakersfield, Missouri and Garry Ellis and wife Gail, Cape Fair, Missouri; five grandchildren, Holly Anderson and husband Bobby, Gainesville, Missouri; Bradley Ellis and wife Renee, St. Genevieve, Missouri; Christopher Ellis and wife Jessie, Gamaliel, Arkansas; Dustin Pool, Bakersfield, Missouri, and Maranda Kimberly and husband Aaron, Nixa, Missouri; nine great grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Pool; two brothers and one sister, Jake, Woody, and Peggy; one grandson Jeffrey Ellis, and one great grandson, Jasper Pool.
He attended the Bakersfield Church of Christ. He was a truck driver until he retired, leaving him time to play with his tractors and his farm.
