Joseph Davis “J.D.” Collins was born the son of Joe Davis Collins and Ida M. (England) Collins on July 17, 1932, in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and departed this life October 5, 2014, in Thayer, Missouri at the age of 82 years.

He was united in marriage in 1959, at Mammoth Spring, Arkansas to Martha Lindsey.

He is survived by one daughter, Joy Jackson and husband, Chuck of Independence, Missouri; three sons, Bob Collins and wife, Tabatha of Batesville, Arkansas, Clint Collins and wife, Karla of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, and Danny Collins and wife, Trang of Merriam, Kansas; two step-sons, Mike and Gaylin Hatfield of Batesville, Arkansas; one sister-in-law, Margie Collins of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; nine grandchildren; three step grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Ida Collins; special sister, Wanda Davis; one grandson, Clint Ashley Collins; one step granddaughter, Lisa Hatfield; five brothers, Lanis, Leonard, Lemuel, Lawrence, and Clarence Collins; and one infant sister.

Mr. Collins was a Veteran, proudly serving his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.

He worked at the V.A. Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri as a Boiler Operator for several years.

J.D. enjoyed fishing in Spring River, was an avid gardener, and enjoyed watching both the Cardinals and the Royals baseball games.

He was a kind and caring man and will truly be missed by his family and his friends at Shady Oaks Healthcare.

Funeral Services will be Friday, October 10, 2014, at 2:00 PM in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel at Thayer with Brother Floyd Rikard officiating.

The body will lie in state at the Funeral Home on Friday from 8:00 AM until service time.

Burial will be in the Flint Cemetery, near Mammoth Spring, Arkansas with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer
