Funeral services for Howard William Davis, 85, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains, with Keith Evans officiating, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.

He was born the son of the late Floyd Davis and Ella Tatum Davis, on March 24, 1927 in Oxford, Arkansas and died June 25, 2012 in Springfield, Missouri.

He was united in marriage August 19, 1943 in Oxford, Arkansas to Velma Ford. who preceded him in death May 13, 2004.

He is survived by five children, Carol McAmis, West Plains, Missouri, Judy Woodraska (Lowell), Millington, Illinois, Joy Bryant (Gerald), Somonauk, Illinois, Cathy Thomas (Dan), South Elgin, Illinois, and Robin Nielsen (David), Mountain Grove, Missouri; 23 grandchildren; 60 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two children, Evelyn Bolin and Don Davis; four brothers, J. D., Deal, Paul, and Robert Davis and one grandson, Marshall Woodraska.

He attended the Promise Land Church, West Plains. He served his country in the United States Navy.

Memorial contributions may be made to NHC, and can be left at the funeral home.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 30, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to service time.

Burial will be in Keirn Cemetery, Howell County, Missouri, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.

    My sincere sympathies for the loss of your father and grandfather. I enjoyed hearing him on the his program on Channel 38 television.
