Hosea Bernard Blankenship was born the son of George Lloyd Blankenship and Lois Lucy (Ledbetter) Blankenship on December 17, 1934, at Couch, Missouri, and departed this life on February 23, 2015, in West Plains, Missouri, at the age of 80 years.

He was united in marriage on September 17, 1957, at Hernando, Mississippi, to Clara Mae Struttmann.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Clara Blankenship of the home in Thayer, Missouri; two sons, Terry Lynn Blankenship of Thayer, and Bryan Lane Blankenship of Memphis, Tennessee; one daughter, Cheryl Denise Pleasant and husband, Cliff of Salem, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Trey Pleasant of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Alyssa McCoy and husband, David of Austin, Texas, Clint Pleasant of Salem, Arkansas, and Alexa Blankenship of Thayer; one great granddaughter, Clara Mae McCoy; two sisters, Elaine Truesdell of Redding, California, and Mary Ellen Tharp of Thayer; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lois Blankenship.

Mr. Blankenship was a Veteran, proudly serving his country in the United States Navy on the USS Essex Aircraft Carrier during the Korean Conflict and the Philippine Invasion.

After his military career, he entered the workforce as a brakeman for Frisco Railroad. Later, he retired from the Burlington Northern Railroad, after thirty-nine years of service.

In his spare time, Hosea enjoyed fishing on Lake Norfork or a good hunting trip.

He was of the Christian faith and will truly be missed by his family and friends.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, February 28, 2015, at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer on Saturday from 1:00 PM until time of the service.

Services will be under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
