Gregory Henry Shilvock was born the son of Herbert Shilvock and Helen (Vladar) Shilvock on September 25, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, and died on August 4, 2017, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 65 years.
He is survived by one daughter, Amy Shilvock of the State of Florida; one son, Jeffery Shilvock of the State of Texas; one grandson, Adler Shilvock; two sisters, Kathy Fowler of Branson, Missouri and Rita Leganski of Berwyn, Illinois; one nephew, Mike Leganski of Joliet, Illinois; one niece, Sue Pyle of Berwyn, Illinois, many cousins, neighbors, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Helen Shilvock and two brothers, Donald Shilvock and Bob Wroblewski.
Greg was a veteran, proudly serving his country in the United States Army.
He was an accomplished cement finisher, working as long as health permitted.
Greg was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing and hunting.
His favorite pastime was having a good time with his cousins and friends.
He will sadly be missed by his family and many friends.
Visitation for Mr. Shilvock will be held, Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Burial will follow immediately in Jeff Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc in Thayer, Missouri.

To Greg Shilvock’s family
We were saddened to hear of Gregs passing. My husband met Greg in 1968 when they were both on leave from the Army. After the Army they lived together as bachelors enjoying life. My husband and I made several trips over the years to Thayer and when Greg was in Illinois we assured he had a place to stay. Although we have not seen Greg in last few years Greg and my husband remained great friends always calling each other and having great laughs and good conversations. Greg was carefree and enjoyed his fishing and hunting. Greg is the father of our niece and nephew and always talked about them over the years to us. He was fortunate to have a grandson (our great nephew) who he loved. The past 5 years he reconnected with his son and they had great conversations that my nephew says he will miss. Unfortunately he is out of the country and has difficulty trying to get home with the service happening few days so soon after his passing and my niece is on vacation and can’t get back in time either. When Greg got sick, all of us tried to help by visiting him, caling him, and sending him care packages. There was a brotherhood love between my husband and Greg and will always be. We apologize that we can’t be there for the service. My husband cannot tolerate the long drive from IL to MO due to health reasons. And unfortunately not enough time for us to arrange a flight and ensure things at home are taken care of while we are gone. I can assure you all of us will be there in spirit. We will miss our monthly phone conversations and laughs that’s for sure. He was a fighter to the end and will be missed. Someday my family will pay tribute to him to remember the time we had with Greg. May he Rest In Peace.

I am sad to hear of Greg’s passing. As the father of our children Amy and Jeff, I will always have a place in my heart for him. I remember years ago when he had become ill we put together a photo album for him with pics of him and his kids. We sent it to him for Christmas. He loved it. It was little things like that that put a smile on his face. Conversations with his son, and visiting with his grandson Adler were also special to him. When Jeff joined the Army he always gave him advice and told stories of when he was in the Army. And when he would visit he would show him old photos from his military days. One of his last conversations with his son consisted of how be was leaving the hospital and going home even if he had to rent a car to get there. Lol. He always loved living on the family property in Thayer and was happiest there. He will not be forgotten.
