Glen Johnson

Glen Del Johnson was born the son of James Edward Johnson and Lola Mae (Wheeler) Johnson on June 14, 1929 in Alton, Missouri, and departed this life March 27, 2013 in Las Cruces, New Mexico at the age of 83 years.

He was united in marriage on August 3, 1954 in Thayer, Missouri to Jean Marie Wiggs who preceded him in death on March 22, 1991.

He is survived by one son, Michael Johnson of Las Cruces, New Mexico; one daughter, Jo Fran Hobbs of Lenexa, Kansas; two granddaughters, Jenna Hobbs of Lenexa, Kansas, and Brandy Wiseman of Phoenix, Arizona; one great grandson, Ethan Cannon; two brothers, James Johnson of Alton, Missouri and Phillip Paul Johnson of Merkel, Texas; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lola Mae Johnson; five brothers, Boyd “Bud” Johnson, Nolan “Bill” Johnson, Don Johnson, his twin, Glee Johnson, and Ned Johnson; and two sisters, Marian Evans and Jessie Mae Burkhead.

Glen was a machinist, retiring from Armco Steel in Kansas City, Missouri after twenty-three years on the job. He enjoyed collecting and working on guns as well as raising a garden.

He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, a wonderful brother, a great uncle, and a loyal friend. Glen will truly be missed by all who knew him.

A Memorial Service for Mr. Johnson will be Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Mr. Johnson’s children officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home in Thayer on Saturday, November 2nd from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.

    When I go to a gun show I still look for Glen but he is not there. I sure he is in heaven. He was a true friend and a good person. He is missed.
