Gene Hatman

Eugene Hatman was born the son of Andy Hatman and Sue (Martin) Hatman on May 16, 1943, in Myron, Arkansas and departed this life November 11, 2013, in West Plains, Missouri at the age of 70 years.

He was united in marriage November 11, 1972, in Salem, Arkansas to Patsy (Miller) Hatman.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Hatman of the home in Thayer, Missouri; his mother, Sue Hatman of Bryant, Arkansas; his brother, Jerry Hatman of Bryant, Arkansas; his children, Kelly Hatman and wife, Eve of Pineville, Arkansas, Kimberlie Preston and husband, Jerry of Booneville, Arkansas, Chris Hatman and wife, Sara of Serrum, Virginia, Andrea Bowman and husband, Eric of Lewisville, Texas, Tim Ary and wife, Carolyn of Thayer, Missouri, Denise Davis and husband, John of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, Michele McBride of Wentzville, Missouri, and several foster children that were cared for in his home for 25 years; his grandchildren, Saxton Hatman, Trenton Hatman, and Allison Hatman all of Pineville, Arkansas, Josh Madera, Chris Madera, and Kayla Madera, all of Booneville, Arkansas, Noah Hatman of Virginia, Evangeline Bowman of Lewisville, Texas, Zach Ary and fiancè, Brittany Bivins of Thayer, Missouri, Nick Ary of Thayer, Missouri, Leslie McIntyre and husband, Peter of Springfield, Missouri, Wesley Davis of Bono, Arkansas, Katie Shockley, Addison Brown, and Nathan Brown, all of Wentzville, Missouri; great grandchild, Jayden Madera of Booneville, Arkansas; his brothers-in-law, George Miller and wife, Dona of Springfield, Missouri, John Miller and wife, Gayle of Canadensis, Pennsylvania, and Glen Fraley of Houston, Missouri; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Andy Hatman; his father-in-law, Bynum Miller; his mother-in-law, Mildred Miller; his sisters-in-law, Donna Hatman and Neva Fraley; and his children, Andy Eugene Hatman, Jr. and Tony Ary.

Gene served his country in the United States Air Force as Security Police and was in law enforcement serving as Deputy Sheriff of Oregon County and Chief of Police of Thayer, Missouri for most of his life. He also enjoyed buying, fixing up and selling vehicles in varying capacities. His favorite past time was sitting on the lake with a fishing pole and one of his many fishing buddies for hours at a time.

He was a believer and a member of First Baptist Church of Thayer, Missouri for many years. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, neighbor and friend. He will be greatly missed by his family, many friends and the community in which he lived.

Funeral Services for Mr.Hatman will be Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Dr. George T. Miller officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home in Thayer on Wednesday evening, November 13th from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M.

Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the First Baptist Church Youth Ministry in Thayer. Contributions may be left at the funeral home.
