Alice Fern Armstrong was born the daughter of Boyd Anderson and Carrie Whitman Anderson on August 11, 1931, in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, and departed this life November 8, 2017, in Salem, Arkansas, at the age of 86 years.
She was united in marriage on November 10, 1948, at Hardy, Arkansas, to Silas Armstrong.
She is survived by her husband, Silas Armstrong of the home in Ash Flat, Arkansas; one daughter, Claudia Freeman of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; one son, Ernie Armstrong and wife, Lana of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Konnie Haney and husband, Kenny, Brad Armstrong and wife, Vickie, and Bev Bailey and husband, Sean; five great grandchildren, Kelsey, Hopper and husband, Josh, Kaitlyn, Payton, Landen, and Laken; one brother, Mark Anderson of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Carrie Anderson; one grandson, Anthony Smith; two brothers, Junior Anderson and Buck Anderson; and one sister, Juanita Shaver.
She was a dedicated homemaker and worked with her husband, Silas in his carpentry business.
Fern enjoyed artwork, painting, and music. She was an excellent seamstress and cook. She taught her family about cooking and life in general.
Mrs. Armstrong was a member of the Church of God in Thayer; a devoted wife; a loving mother and grandmother; and a dear friend and neighbor.
She will truly be missed by her family and all who knew her.
Graveside services for Mrs. Armstrong will be held Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Riverside Cemetery in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas with Brother Robert Brown officiating.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc in Thayer.
