Ernest Rudolph Franke was born the son of Rudolph Ernest Franke and Callie (Marshall) Franke on August 19, 1939, in Thayer, Missouri, and departed this life September 17 2016, near Imboden, Arkansas, at the age of 77 years.

He was united in marriage on May 30, 1964, in Irving, Texas to Charlotte Harris.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Franke, of the home in Thayer, Missouri; three daughters, Evelyne Franke of Thayer, Missouri, Kimberly Franke of Thayer, Missouri and Jaqulyn Hoes of Blum, Texas; two sons, Jack Franke of Monterey, California and Dan Franke of Plano, Texas; twenty grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph Ernest Franke and Callie Franke; one daughter, Carol Harris; and sister, Henrietta Stone.

Ernest was a college graduate and a civil engineer. He also was a licensed land surveyor.

He was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Thayer. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, dad, granddad and a friend to all.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Pastor Pam Ekey officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday evening, September 20th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Burial will be in Thayer Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

    Dan, heard about your dad and having lost a parent I can sympathize with your loss and grief. All of us here at work are saddened for you and your family and wish you God’s strength and comfort to get you through this.

    So very sorry to hear about the loss of Ernie, he was a fine man. I will always remember him telling me what a beautiful soprano voice I had, such a wonderful compliment. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
