Eddie Lovel Honeycutt was born the son of Otto Lovel Honeycutt and Grace Christine Hackworth Honeycutt on October 28, 1938, in Thayer, Missouri. He departed this life July 1, 2015, in West Plains, Missouri, at the age of 76 years and 8 months.

He was united in marriage at Garfield, Missouri, on August 17, 1957, to Mary Jane Frey.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Mary Jane Honeycutt of their home in Thayer, Missouri; three sons, Randy Honeycutt and wife, Deb and Jeff Honeycutt and wife, Terrie, all of Thayer, Missouri, and Kevin Honeycutt and wife, Julie of Colcord, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Heather Holmes and husband, Brian of Foristell, Missouri, Ashton Tappmeyer and husband, Dan of Hermann, Missouri, Kalon Honeycutt and wife, Allanah of Catoosa, Oklahoma, Eric Honeycutt and wife, Taylor of Thayer, Missouri, Joshua McClelland and wife, Laken of Kailua, Hawaii, Shelbi Honeycutt, Sierra Honeycutt, and Krey Honeycutt, all of Colcord, Oklahoma; five great grandchildren, Nate, Hannah, Landon, and Samuel Holmes and Josephine Tappmeyer; five sisters, Lucille Underwood and husband, Ralph, Sue Burkhead and husband, Bill, and Linda Kay Brewer and husband, Junior, all of Thayer, Missouri, Brenda Garrison and husband, David, and Lana Chester and husband, Rick, all of Myrtle, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Linda Honeycutt of Thayer, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Grace Honeycutt, and one brother, David Honeycutt.

Eddie graduated from Couch High School with the class of 1956. He was a loan officer at the Bank of Thayer for several years, and was employed at Ram Auto Parts, retiring after thirty plus years of service.

Eddie was loyal to God and his family. He lived and loved knowing the value of both in his life. He has impacted his family greatly in becoming who we are in our Christian faith, work ethic and love and compassion for others. He was a member of the Alton Assembly of God Church. He served as a board member of the Oregon County Sheltered Workshop and was a former member of the Couch R-1 School Board of Directors and the University of Missouri Extension Council.

He was gentle and kind, a good listener, and always there to lend a hand or words of wisdom. Eddie provided us all an example of strength and honor. He led what most would call a simple life and didn’t care much for worldly possessions. Most important to him were God’s most precious gifts, Salvation and relationships with family and friends that sustained him throughout his life. He never sought the limelight, but always seemed to be doing something funny and has been the source of laughter at many of our family events.

He had many hobbies which included cattle, riding horses, farming, fishing, western books and movies, eating with friends and family, Western hunts with his boys and going to support his grandkids at games and other activities. Traveling was something Eddie loved to do with his family and there are many great memories from those family vacations.

Eddie was very good with numbers and could remember numbers from many years prior. He was left handed and very artistic. He has given nicknames to all his family and those will be forever special to each one.

Many were impacted and touched by Eddie and all will miss him greatly. We can find comfort and joy in knowing that he is no longer suffering in this world with sickness, but with our Lord and Savior celebrating with those who went before him.
