Dorothy May (Wrenfrow) Parrott was born the daughter of Willie Wrenfrow and Mary (Naiyoke) Wrenfrow on February 24, 1941 in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, and departed this life February 11, 2016, at her home in Alton, Missouri, at the age of 74 years.
She was united in marriage on June 26, 1965, in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, to Dewey Parrott.

She is survived by her husband of fifty years, Dewey Parrott of the home in Alton; one son, Randy Parrott of Kansas City, Missouri; one daughter, LaRhonda Parrott Grafton of Alton; one sister, Ruth Goans and husband, Richard of Mammoth Spring; one brother, Nick Naiyoke of Hawaii; two sisters-in-law, Greatle Parrott of Alton, and Margie Parrott of West Plains, Missouri; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Mary Wrenfrow.

After graduating from Mammoth Spring High School, Dorothy worked at Puritan Fashions in Thayer. Later, she and Dewey owned and operated their stores, Parrott’s Shoe Center and Parrott’s Ready to Wear, for thirty years.

Dorothy enjoyed working in their large vegetable garden. She spent many hours canning vegetables and fruit for the winter months. She was proud of taking canned items to the Oregon County Fair, where she took home many blue ribbons. Some years, she took home the grand champion prize.

Dorothy’s faith and belief in God was an important part of her life. As a child, she attended the First Baptist Church in Mammoth Spring. Later, she was a longtime member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Alton. She was honored to teach the pre-school Sunday School class for many years. She took pride in watching her former students grow into adulthood and many of them have children of their own.

Dorothy enjoyed being outdoors. She loved fishing with her family. And, she enjoyed deer hunting with her husband.

She enjoyed going to Branson with her family nearly every summer.
She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, sister and a friend to all.

Funeral services for Mrs. Parrott will be held Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at 10:00 AM at the Macedonia Baptist Church near Alton, Missouri, with Brother Joby Steele officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer on Saturday evening, February 13th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery near Alton.
