Leonard Dale Adams was born the son of Leonard M. Adams and Genevieve McCauley Adams on June 28, 1942 in Culver City, California, and departed this life December 28, 2013 at his home in Thayer, Missouri, at the age of 71 years.

He was united in marriage on September 27, 1998 in Thayer, Missouri, to Mary Ann Manes Lafferty.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Adams of the home in Thayer, Missouri; eight children, Karen Moutray of Republic, Missouri, Jeff Adams of Ozark, Missouri, Tina Combs of Ozark, Missouri, Scott Adams of Ozark, Missouri, Jason Adams of Springfield, Missouri, TeLesa Lack of Houston, Missouri, Michele Hurst of Houston, Missouri, and Jason Lafferty of Salem, Arkansas; fifteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mike Adams and Bruce Adams, both of Ozark, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Genevieve Adams.

Dale was a Veteran, serving his country in the United States Army.

He was employed by Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad, retiring as conductor after thirty years of service. Dale enjoyed golf, bowling, hunting, and fishing, but most of all he loved his family and treasured time they shared together.

He attended the Thayer Free Will Baptist Church and will be remembered for his deep devotion to his family and friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. Adams will be Monday, December 30, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri, with Brother Richard Robinson and Brother Matthew Todd officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, and left at the Funeral Home.
