Funeral services for Chloa Sarah Sanders, 98, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains, with Reverend Glen Murray and Reverend Dennis McGinley officiating, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.

She was born the daughter of the late Edward James Bridges and Una Mae Martin Bridges, on August 20, 1914 in Viola, Arkansas and died January 17, 2013 in West Plains, Missouri.

She was united in marriage August 20, 1932 in Sturkie, Arkansas to Albert M. Sanders, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by four children, Wanda Lee Roberson and husband, Carl, West Plains, William “Eddie” Sanders and wife, Donna, Springfield, Missouri, Ruby Roberson and husband, Alten, Holden, Missouri, and Vera Sanders, West Plains, Missouri; one daughter-in-law, Jula Scott and husband, Joe, West Plains, Missouri; one brother, Austin Bridges and wife, Della, Moko, Arkansas; one sister, Koma Kerin, Hanford, California; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren, and twenty-one great great granchildren, and several step grandchildren, and step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her step dad, Dave Cantrell; one son, Albert Leon Sanders; three grandsons, Mike, Mark, and Robbie; six brothers, Edward Bridges, Sam Cantrell, Bill Cantrell, Adrian Cantrell, Earl Cantrell, and T.J. Cantrell; three sisters, Cecil Mae Martin, Hazel Faye Freeman, and Louetta Reeves.

She was a charter member of the United Freewill Baptist Church in West Plains. She loved to garden and work with her flowers. She also enjoyed quilting and traveling, having visited all 48 states. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with all her family.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or United Freewill Baptist Church Fund, and can be left at the funeral home.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 18, 2013 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains.

Burial will be in Howell Memorial Park Cemetery, Howell County, Missouri, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.

    She was the best Grandma ever, her love for all of us was evident. She never met a flower that she could not make grow and how she loved to find new flowers everywhere she went, either stopping at a store or on the side of the road. If she was not quilting then she was in the garden. She was truly an amazing woman and will be dearly missed.

    Grandma was a wonderful influance on me, not only with her love of quilting, flowers, and family, she led a very Godly life, helping anyone out that needed it. She has left us a legacy to follow.
