Charles J. Hackworth was born the son of James N. Hackworth and Sarah E. Jones Hackworth on April 8, 1927, in Couch, Missouri, and departed this life March 13, 2018, in West Plains, Missouri, at the age of 90 years.
He was united in marriage on October 16, 1947, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, to Billie Jean Litherland, who preceded him in death on January 19, 2010.
He is survived by his daughter, Becky Hunt and husband, Bob of Jacksonville Beach, Florida; one grandson, Christopher Hunt of Jacksonville Beach, Florida; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Sarah Hackworth; his wife, Billie Jean Hackworth; four brothers, Arnett Hackworth, Ode Hackworth, Ted Hackworth, and D.B. Hackworth; and four sisters, Josie Taylor, Virgie Combs, Mardell Lewallen and Grace Honeycutt.
Mr. Hackworth was a veteran, proudly serving his country in the United States Army during World War II.
Chuck was an avid lover of music, especially blue grass music. One of his favorite memories was getting together with his musician friends and playing music for many hours. Most of all, he loved his family, and looked forward to family reunions, telephone calls, and long visits.
He was a Christian man and of the Baptist faith.
He will truly be missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know him.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Thayer, Missouri.
Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
