I know he is now home, but your hearts are heavy. We all spent a lot of time together as I was growing up and had great times! Much love to Mary Etta and the family. May God give you the comfort you need during this difficult time.

Bro Charles and his family stayed in our home many times. Many nights, he would stay up, praying all night long to be ready to preach the next day! He was humble, kind, and a true soldier of the Cross! The sermon series most memorable was the ones of the Cross. Most memorable message was “ The Blackberry Picker”. Love and prayers for the family!

So very sorry that such a great preacher and man has left us. Praying for the family which I have known for such a long time.
Our family and Bro. Charles and Sis. Mary Etta have spent many hours together in times past. Mom would always fix something to eat, sometimes egg sandwiches, popcorn; whatever we had. His passing brings back many good memories.
He ministered in dad’s funeral as well as Bro. Bill Tinsley who has gone on. What a reunion!

When I was was 12 or 13 at a campmeeting, standing close to the hamburger shack,..only one preacher noticed a PK., standing beside the main trail, and stoped and talked with me…so thoughtful of others, that was bro. charles barnett… I could allways play my music a little better, if he was in the service, he would let me know, how much he enjoyed it. That was my lifelong friend BRO CHARLES BARNETT…my wife and I remembered him praying in his van allnight long at Richlands Campmeeting when we were all staying at David Horton house. what great memories we have….greg and teresa tinsley

Such a kind-hearted man! Such a friend to young preachers. Always an encourager, with a Word… fitly spoken. Somewhere, around the throne of God; I intend to find Bro. Charles Barnett. My love & sincere condolences, to Sis. Barnett & all the family.

Another soldier of the cross made it home. We were saddened to hear of his crossing. But also rejoicing to know he’s in a land of no mores… no more pain, age, forgetfulness, sorrow and more. I’m sure he’s somewhere shouting on the hills of Glory!! Holy House of Prayer Paducah KY, Pastor Keith and Sis. Michelle Taylor, and Bro. Don and Sis. Kathy Nethery

WHEN HE TRADED HIS COAT FOR A ROBE
A Poem By Rick Combs, Honoring The Life and Legacy of Bro. Charles Barnett

He left his influence among us,
As a man who could both pray and preach.
The church, he would always encourage,
And for lost souls he always would reach.

A hero to dozens of preachers.
A husband, a father, and more.
He’s now graduated from this sin-cursed world,
    To a beautiful, eternal shore.

At Richlands, one year, he was preaching,
From a heart that was broken, yet strong.
He explained to the people who listened,
Why he’d worn the same coat all week long.

The coat was a gift from his grandson,
Whose life had been taken away.
Yet, in spite of this heart wrenching story,
    Both men are rejoicing today.

I can’t help but imagine, in Heaven,
With its glory and splendor and charms,
That he traded that coat for a perfect white robe,
And his grandson is now in his arms.
