Funeral services for Joseph Edward Brigman, Jr., 87, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains, with Reverend Ron Richardson officiating, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.

He was born the son of the late Joseph Edward Brigman, Sr. and Hazel Wells Brigman on May 6, 1925 in Covington, Tennessee and died October 19, 2012 in West Plains, Missouri.

He was united in marriage March 19, 1950 in Hernando, Mississippi to Artie Mae Thrasher.

He is survived by his wife, Artie Mae Thrasher Brigman, of the home, West Plains, Missouri; two children, Linda Brigman Johnson and husband, Ricky, Corinth, Mississippi, and Tommy Brigman and wife, Christina, West Plains, Missouri; two brothers, David Brigman and wife, Rosemary, San Antonio, Texas and Gordon Brigman and wife, Stephanie, Germantown, Tennessee; one sister, Pat Hornsby and husband, Jerry, Germantown, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Brian Brigman and wife Jennifer, West Plains, Missouri, Jason Brigman and wife, Lesley, West Plains, Missouri, Kelly Milligan and wife, Stacey, Greencastle, Pennsylvania, and Hollie Bishop and husband, Greg, Iuka, Mississippi; seven great grandchildren, Garrett Brigman, Aiden Brigman, Dylan Brigman, and Dakotah Brigman, all of West Plains, Missouri, Chloe Milligan, Bethlehem, Georgia, Christopher Milligan, upper state New York, and Milli Bishop, Iuka, Mississippi; one great great grandson, Ethan Milligan, Bethlehem, Georgia, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Dorothy Agnes Waggoner, 86, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains with Brother Bill Bales officiating, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, West Plains.

She was born the daughter of the late William “Bill” Floyd Waggoner and Delia Mae Strain Waggoner, on June 7, 1926 in Alton, Missouri, and died September 26, 2012 in West Plains, Missouri.

She is survived by three sisters, Jo Ann Bales and husband, Bill, West Plains, Missouri, Wilda Lee, St. Clair, Missouri, and Margie Bales and husband, Jack, High Ridge, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Lucille Green was born December 5, 1928 in Viola, Arkansas to Glenn Roe and Dora Light Roe.

She graduated from Viola High School in 1946. She was the editor of the first annual there at the high school.

In 1946 her family moved to West Plains and she began working for Kellet-Landis Abstract Company.

In 1951 she married Dewey Green, and they moved to Fort Worth, Texas where Dewey was enrolled in Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. When he graduated, he went into the Army as a chaplain, and they lived in several states, including Alaska. In the 1960’s they moved back to West Plains, and Lucille enrolled in MSU. She earned her BS in Education from ASU in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and taught third grade at Howell Valley School for twenty years. She especially enjoyed having both of her grandchildren as students.

She is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Dr. C. E. and Elizabeth Roe and John and Ellen Light, and her husband, Dewey.

Funeral services for Bobby Jake Todd, 78, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 16, 2012, at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains.

He was born the son of the late Earl Henry and Sadie Todd, on March 29, 1934 in Howes Mill, Missouri and died September 13, 2012 in West Plains, Missouri.

He was united in marriage November 22, 1956 in St. Louis, Missouri to Nancy Deckard.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Deckard Todd, of the home, West Plains, Missouri; one son, David Todd, St. Louis, Missouri, and one grandson, Robert Todd, wife Nichole, St. Peters, Missouri.

Steven Charles Heflin was born July 19, 1951 in Batesville, Arkansas. He was the only child of Elwynn Parris “Al” Heflin and Atha Claudine (Garner) Heflin. He died Monday, September 10 after a two-year, hard-fought battle with cancer.

He graduated in 1970 with the class of Highland High School in Arkansas. Steven learned and worked along with his father in the carpentry business, which he did for many years.

He moved to West Plains in 1988 where he worked for Feller Construction and Junior Cromer Construction before working for John Deere from 1994 to 2010.

On November 18, 1989 he was married to Anita Hickman.

Over the years Steven became quite the sports fan and started collecting sports memorabilia. His football team was the Oakland Raiders and his beloved Arkansas Razorbacks. In addition to being a sports fan, he also loved exotic and domestic cars. He went to several auctions and car shows over the years. One of his greatest joys and pride was his red Ferrari Testarossa.

Funeral services for Thomas Lee Morris, 92, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 14, 2012, at the Faith Assembly of God Church, West Plains, with Reverends Ron Billings, Jerry Heath, and District Presbyter Reverend Tom Fortner, officiating, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.

He was born the son of the late Cicero Frank Morris and Annie Gibbs Morris, on June 15, 1920 in Jackson County, Arkansas and died September 8, 2012 in West Plains, Missouri.

He was united in marriage April 24, 1944 in Alexanderia, Louisiana to Marie Deaton, who preceded him in death May 2, 2010.

He is survived by two children, Danita Faye Warner Crosby, husband, Jim, Caulfield, Missouri, and Dorothy Raye Warner Miller, husband, Dean, Lawson, Missouri; one brother, Reverend Charles Morris, wife, Irma, West Plains; one sister, Norma Jean Crotts, husband, Harvey, West Plains; ten grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was born the daughter of the late Luther Sutton and Olive Barton Sutton, on November 18, 1931 in Alton, Missouri and died August 22, 2012 in West Plains, Missouri.

She was united in marriage November 11, 1955 in Alton, Missouri to Eugene Chronister.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene Chronister, of the home, West Plains, Missouri; nine nieces, Peggy Beery, Lebanon, Missouri, Donna Moore, Lebanon, Missouri, Janet Tatmen, state of Tennessee, Sammy Kay Cogdill, Lebanon, Missouri, Carol Pitts, Thayer, Missouri, Linda Pierce, West Plains, Missouri, Mary Jo Cook, Malden, Missouri, Becky Henry, West Plains, Missouri, and Jennifer Rebardi, West Plains, Missouri; three nephews, Jim Sutton, Lebanon, Missouri, Keith Johnson, West Plains, Missouri, and Gary Chronister, Mountain Home, Arkansas, and several great nieces and nephews.

She was born the daughter of Harold Harbeston and Dorothy McCleary Harbeston, on September 30, 1956 in Howell County, Missouri and died August 18, 2012 in West Plains, Missouri.

She is survived by her parents, Harold Harbeston and Dorothy McCleary Harbeston, West Plains, Missouri; Clifford Collins, Sr., father of her children, West Plains, Missouri; one son, Clifford Collins, wife, Christina, West Plains, Missouri; one sister, Elena Sue Stanley, husband, Gene, West Plains, Missouri; two granddaughters, Taylor Collins, West Plains, Missouri, and Kassidy Anderson, Mountain Grove, Missouri, and a special friend, Roger Ledgerwood, Birchtree, Missouri.

Harrold Guinnip Braynard, son of Bruce and Daisy Braynard was born July 19, 1922 at Marshall, Illinois and died August 13, 2012 at West Plains, Missouri at the age of 90 years.

He was married to Novella Perkins April 19, 1947 at Marshall, Illinois.

He is survived by his wife, Novella; son, Gary and Linda of West Plains; grandsons, Shane and wife, Terri, and daughter, Autumn, of West Plains, and Dustin and wife, Krystal, of St. Louis; great grandson, Brody Smith of San Francisco; great granddaughters, Miranda Wright and husband, Jessie, of West Plains, and Megan Mitchell and husband, Stuart, of Mtn. Grove; great great grandson, Braxtin Wright of West Plains.

Funeral Services for Florene Eva Mason, 91, Alma, Illinois, will be held at 10:00 a.m.. Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains, with Reverend Bill Finney officiating, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.

She was born the daughter of the late Cleve Brotherton and Grace Burroughs Brotherton, on December 23, 1920 in Olden, Missouri and died August 4, 2012 in Salem, Illinois.

She was united in marriage in East Saint Louis, Illinois on January 17, 1948 to Gay Mason, who preceded her in death January 23, 1998.

She is survived by two children, Rita Johnson, Alma, Illinois, and Ron Mason, wife, Darlene, Whiteland, Indiana; three grandchildren, Kerry Dougherty, wife, Cathy, Eaton, Colorado, Daniel Mason, Jacksonville, Arkansas and Nicholas Cannon-Mason, Whiteland, Indiana; five great grandchildren, Micheal Dougherty, New Baden, Illinois, Scarlett Dougherty and Alyssa Dougherty, Eaton, Colorado, Britna Mason and Briana Mason, Jacksonville, Arkansas, and one great great granddaughter, Willow Jean Dougherty, New Baden, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, and eight siblings, Delbert, Woodrow, Jewell, Orval, and Robert Brotherton, Blanche Dryer, Lucille Wood, and Evelyn Daniels.

She was a lifelong member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Howell County, Missouri.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association or the Gideon’s and can be left at the funeral home.

Visitation was held Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains. Burial will be in Howell Memorial Park Cemetery, Howell County, Missouri, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.
