Herbert Hirsch

Herbert Christian Hirsch, age 78, of Thayer, Missouri, passed away February 21, 2025, at his home. He was born July 27, 1946, to Albert Christian and Ethel Belle (Hinton) Hirsch in Thayer, Missouri.

Herbert married the love of his life, Kathleen Marie Heitz on July 10, 1970, in Thayer, Missouri at the methodist Church and was happily married for 54 years. Within this union they had two children, Brian Anthony and Beth Marie.

Herbert liked to go to deer camp, hunting, gambling, going to the antique stores, flea markets, farming, doing mechanical work, trucks and he was always up to a drink a cold Coors Light with anyone. He was a truck driver for many years and his CB handle was “Wildman”. He loved telling stories, and he will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen; two children Brian Hirsch, wife Christine and Beth Luebbering; five grandchildren Mercedes(Tim) Walker, Whitney Hirsch, Alexis Luebbering, Austin Hirsch and Kaylee Luebbering; three great-grandchildren, Julius Walker, Zia Walker, and Jacoby Walker; siblings Betty Anne Garrison, Marie (Harry) Vincent, Albert Wayne Hirsch, June (Danny) Davis, Gary (Delores) Hirsch, Roy Hirsch, Janice (Johnny) Howell, Billy (Cindy) Hirsch, Kathy (Michael) Langston, and Larry (Betty) Hirsch; numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law, William (Bill) Garrison and Anthony (Tony) Azar; and one niece Jeannie Hirsch.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 25, 2025, 11:00 a.m. til 1:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri.

Interment will be on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, in Thayer Cemetery, Thayer, Missouri with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer, Missouri.

Kim Elaine Smith

Kim Elaine Smith, age 69, passed away in Searcy, Arkansas on February 20, 2025, at Unity Hospital. She was born September 24, 1955, in Lockney, Texas to Guy and Ruth (Williams) Smith.

Kim grew up in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and graduated with the class of 1973. Kim lived most of her adult life in Mountain Home, Arkansas, where she worked at Baxter Lab for thirty-nine and half years where she made many life-long friends. In 2021, Kim moved to Searcy to be near family.

Kim enjoyed watching t.v. and ordering things from QVC that she didn’t need. She adored her cats Casey and Breanna, who she often referred to as her children. She loved Pepsi and always had a glass sitting nearby. She was a member of the West Side Church of Christ. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

She is survived by her brother John Smith, wife Lynn of Searcy, Arkansas; two nephews Tony Agnew, wife Jennifer of Springfield, Missouri, and Eric Smith, wife Traci of Searcy, Arkansas; one niece Erin Morvant, husband Thomas of Hot Springs, Arkansas; two great-nephews Kelby Agnew and Casen Morvant; two great-nieces Ava Morvant and Stella Agnew; and a host of friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister Connie Agnew; and one brother-in-law Kenny Agnew.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri.

Janet Louise “Tucker” Alford

Janet Louise Alford of Thayer Missouri was born July 3, 1943, in Couch Missouri to Olon & Nevia (Honeycutt) Tucker. She died Saturday, February 15, 2025, in Thayer at the age of 81.

She married Steve Alford on June 23, 1987, who preceded her in death March 21, 2023. She was a member of Free Will Baptist Church of Thayer.

Janet started working for Dr. A.T. Walker in 1971, later for Dr. John Phillips, for a total of 34 years when she retired in 2005.

She loved meeting people, going shopping and eating out with her special friends of many years Carol Wilkerson and Deloris Taylor. She enjoyed her favorite pastime of cross-stitching and making quilts for family and especially the new babies in the family. She was an avid reader and a great cook!

She is survived by her three children Natalie Kavanaugh, husband Mark, Stoney Cypret, wife Tiffany, and Johnny Cypret, wife Sandra; eleven grandkids Kristopher Alford, wife Abby, Eric Williams, wife Brooke, Ashley Williams, significant other Nick Sims, Clay Williams, Lexie Mills, Patience Lawson, Kinsley Mills, Lance Schneider, wife Michelle, Adeline Cypret, Jasper Cypret, and Nicole Eckman, husband Tim; ten great grandkids; three sisters Rosalie Wisehart, husband Joe, Carol Grimes, husband Larry, and Mary Kay Shehorn, husband Marlin; two brothers Bob Tucker, wife Gina, and Joe Dan Tucker, wife Carrie; two Aunts Neva Devault and Neta Clinton-Frase; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Steve; and one brother Richard Tucker.

John Braford Hall, Sr., age 76, passed away February 3,2025, at his home in Paragould Arkansas with his loving wife and family by his side. He was the son of Carl and Margie (Sherrod) Hall and was born January 20, 1949, in Jay Wye, Missouri. John married Donna Poff Hampton on September 23, 1996, in Pocahontas, Arkansas.

Johnny loved his family and being around the grandkids was the joy of his life. He always loved picking at the nieces and nephews. Johnny loved to go deer and squirrel hunting. He would drive for miles to chase a deer down he had shot. Fishing was a hobby of his and his grandma Eva instilled that in him when he was a little boy, getting up before daylight to go fishing.

Johnny loved watching Westerns of any kind. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by three sons, John Hall, Jr. of Holden, Missouri, Mark Hall of Horse Shoe Bend, Arkansas, and Matthew Hall of Holden, Missouri; three step-sons, Jay Hampton, wife Shelly of Paragould, Arkansas, Chris Hampton of Stanford, Arkansas, Jeff Hampton and Tammy of Maynard, Arkansas; one brother, Terry Hall, wife Cheryl of Myrtle, Missouri; three sisters, Beverly Martin, husband Steve of Thayer, Missouri, Linda Yaktin, husband Homam of Stouts Ville, Ohio, and Karla Hall of Thayer, Missouri; nine grandkids; sixteen great-grandkids; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one infant brother Felix Hall; one brother Robert(Bob) Lacy; and one sister Orlanda(sis) Hall.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri.

Margie Faye Collins, 88, of Mammoth Spring, passed away on February 3, 2025, in Thayer, Missouri. She was born on September 6, 1936, in Many Islands, Arkansas, to William Davis and Mabel (Hurtt) Davis.

Margie married Clearence Collins on April 25, 1953, in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas. She was a devoted member of the Mammoth Spring Church of Christ. Margie was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Burke (David); son, Brad Collins (Kuganes); four grandchildren, Amanda Owens (Carroll), Andrew Burke (Lauren), Aaron Burke (Leslie), Krishnan Collins; six great-grandchildren, Kaden and Kyler Owens, Jack and Beckett Burke, Emmet and Elce Burke; and sister, Willia Mae White (Jim).

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Mabel Davis; husband, Clearence Collins; three brothers, Howard Davis (Genevive), Fred Davis (Wanda), TR Davis (Frances); and son, Jack Collins.

Pallbearers will be: Brian Davis, Andrew Burke, Aaron Burke, Krishnan Collins, Carroll Owens, and Kaden Owens

Memorials may be made to the Flint Cemetery of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas. These may be left with the funeral home.

Julia Marcella McKinney, 92, of Ravenden, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025, at her home surrounded by family. Julia was born on January 18, 1933, in Corning, Arkansas, to Luther Henry Case and Martha Weaver Case.

Julia dedicated her life to her family and the animals on the farm, finding joy in caring for both. She was known for her culinary skills, particularly her famous chocolate rolls, and chicken and dumplings that brought smiles to all who had the pleasure of tasting them.

She is survived by her children, Lukas (Donna) McKinney of Pevely, MO, Shonnie French of Mountain Home, AR, and Renea (Len) Frey of Jonesboro, AR, along with an abundance of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren who all called her Mamaw who will carry forward her legacy of love and kindness.

Julia is preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Martha Case, her husband, Jesse (Jim) McKinney, one son, Dearl Ray McKinney, one granddaughter, Sonia Bounds, as well as three brothers and four sisters. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Graveside Services will be on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Taylor Cemetery of Ravenden, Arkansas.

Moon Ja (Lee) Traw, age 82, of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas passed away January 30, 2025, at her home. Moon Ja was born July 5, 1942, to Lee Bong Hak and Lee Jung Boon in Busan, South Korea.

Moon Ja married the love of her life, Amos “Ray” Traw in Sharp County Arkansas on August 4, 1973, and they were happily married for 51 years.

Moon Ja loved cooking, gardening, playing with her grandchildren, watching k-dramas on Netflix and spoiling her great-grandchildren.

She was of the Baptist faith and attended church for many years. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

She is survived by her three daughters, Selena Lowe(Tony), Dawn Engel(Tony) and Donna Dravenstott(Rich); two step-daughters Robin Wells(Steve) and Regina Stephens(Steven); her grandchildren Jeremy, Dru, Heather, Morgan, Jasmine, Tori, Jade, Alyssa, and Emily; her great-grandchildren Dillon, Austin, Tyler, Eli, Gage, Bella, Josie, Elyshia, Cassie, Kyomi, Hudson, and, Kieran; many other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Amos Ray Traw; brother, Lee Jung Sup; Tae Otto; brothers-in-law, Roy Traw, Troy Traw, Charles Porter and Jim McCradic; sisters-in-law Joo Du Nam Veda McCradic, Alice Traw and Brenda Traw; and one stepson Terry Traw.

Brenda Helen Traw, born on November 8, 1948, in Florida, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025, in Cherokee Village, Arkansas. Brenda cherished her family, and her love extended to her beloved dogs, bringing joy and companionship throughout her life.
Brenda was a voracious reader, often losing herself in the pages of a good book. She also had a passion for knitting and crocheting, creating beautiful pieces that reflected her creativity and warmth. Her joyous spirit and dedication to her hobbies enriched the lives of those around her. Brenda was a Catholic and a dispatcher/jailer for most of her life.
Brenda is survived by her husband Carrol; three children, Catherine Horton, William “Bill” Amos Traw, and Carrol “Gene” Traw Jr.; one niece, Shannon Bramlett; many other family members and friends.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Alfrod Beard and Irene Maxwell and one sister, Patricia Taylor.

Hurley Eugene Crews, Sr., passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at the age of 97 years, 5 months and 28 days.

Mr. Crews was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Eloise Cope Crews, his son Hurley Crews, Jr., and his granddaughter Suzanne Zalimeni.

He is survived by his son, Ketih Crews of The Woodlands, Texas, his granddaughter, Emily Crews of The Woodlands, Texas, and his great-granddaughter Kaylee Gates of Theodore, Alabama.

Mr. Crews was a member of Creekwood Church of Christ and had previously served as an elder at Pleasant Valley Church of Christ from the late 60’s throughout the 1970’s. Mr. Crews was a Bible teacher, a deacon, an elder, and an all-around Christian man worthy of great respect. Mr. Crews came to Mobile in 1960 as branch manager of Dictaphone Corporate and later was an account executive with Xerox Corporation until retirement at age 71. He then became an independent agent for Xerox, fully retiring at age 83. He was an active member of Rotary Club of Mobile for many years, a Rotary Fellow, and was involved in the establishment of the Rotary Rehabilitation Center at Mobile Infirmary. Mr. Crews held a private pilot’s license from the late 70’s until about 10 years ago and at one time was President of Mobile Aero Club. He enjoyed fishing, boating, flying and activities with family and church friends.

Funeral will be Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Carter Funeral Home chapel in Thayer, Missouri. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00.

Interment will be Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Riverside Cemetery in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas with services under the directions of Carter Funeral Home, Thayer, Missouri.
