Billie Williams

Billie John Williams was born the son of Kibble Williams and Velma Pearl (Thomas) Williams on June 2, 1931, in Thomasville, Missouri, and departed this life on May 20, 2014, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 82 years.

He was united in marriage in Long Beach, California, on October 10, 1953, to Charline Wilmoth.

He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Charline Williams of the home in Thayer, Missouri; his son, Ronald Allen Williams of Thayer, Missouri; his daughter, Cristine Marie Hiser and husband, John of Fair Grove, Missouri; four grandsons, Kib Williams-Cochran of Flippin, Arkansas, Kyle Williams of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Kane Hiser of St. Charles, Missouri, and Jacob Hiser of Springfield, Missouri; one great granddaughter, Evelyn Williams of Jonesboro, Arkansas; one brother, Carl Williams of Thomasville, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kibble and Velma Williams; and one sister, Wilma Leach.

Billie served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean war. Following his military service, he spent his entire career working on the railroad ending as a conductor with BNSF.

He enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, and fishing on the Eleven Point River. He was an avid sports fan and especially loved St. Louis Cardinals baseball and MSU Lady Bears Basketball. More than anything else, he cherished time spent with his grandchildren.

Billie was a member of the Thayer Free Will Baptist Church and will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather, and a loyal friend. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Graveside services for Mr. Williams will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 23, 2014, at the Thayer Cemetery in Thayer Missouri with Brother Richard Robinson officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Thayer Free Will Baptist Church at the corner of Forth and Oak Streets in Thayer, Missouri, on Thursday evening, May 22nd from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.

Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery, with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

    So sorry to hear of Billy’s passing. I will miss seeing him at the Thomasville reunions.

    Condolences to Bill’s family. I admired Bill from our ball playing days and few may know that he played for Alton in the first ever night game at Thayer in June of 1948. A fine fellow. He will be missed.
