Berniece A. Rogers was born the daughter of John Henry and Rosie Earls Williams on February 1, 1919, in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, and died April 17, 2012, at Shady Oaks Healthcare Center in Thayer, Missouri.
She was united in marriage March 27, 1937, in Hardy, Arkansas, to Jesse Rogers, who preceded her in death February 7, 1982.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Peggy Rogers, of Thayer, Missouri; one grandson, Trent Rogers and wife Michelle of Walla Walla, Washington; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Grayson Rogers of Walla Walla, Washington; three sisters, Bessie Vaughn and Margaret Morgan of West Plains, Missouri, and Tressie Quimby of Thayer, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She also leaves to mourn her passing Tim and Alice Young, Kevin Young, Holly Bell and Whitley Young, all of Hardy, Arkansas, and Kathleen Young of Jackson, Mississippi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Rosie Williams; her husband, Jesse Rogers; her son, Dale Rogers; and two brothers, Roland and Russell Williams.
Living during the depression made Berniece a very resourceful person. In years past she was a successful business woman, owning and managing several businesses in and around Thayer.
She was well known for her baking and sewing skills. Many of her pies, cakes and quilts have been sold to benefit various community organizations.
Mrs. Rogers was a member of the First Baptist Church of Thayer. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and loyal friend. She was known for her words of wisdom, great personality and her spirit of giving.
She will truly be missed by her family, friends and the neighborhood in which she lived.
Funeral services for Berniece will be Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery in Thayer, Missouri.
