Kirby Steve Waggoner

Kirby Steve Waggoner, 61, left this earth on July 16, 2024 to join his beautiful wife of 40 years, Rhonda, for eternal life.

Kirby was born to Raymond and Mary Waggoner on July 10, 1963 in West Plains, Missouri.

Kirby is survived by their four children: Shane Waggoner and his wife Ruth, along with their children Nylah, Gavin, Andelynn and Peyton; Kelby Waggoner and his wife Bethany, with their children Chevy, Remmy, and Hadley; Dylan Waggoner and his fiance Lindsey; and Lexie Collins and her husband Jesse, with their children Lyza, Jragen, Jagger, and Jazlie. He also leaves behind his sister, Vicky, and brother-in-law, Donnie Brotherton; his sister, Shirley Harper; his brother, Jerry Waggoner and wife Sandy, and many other siblings, cousins, family members, and friends.

Kirby enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, friends, and the students he coached. He enjoyed hunting on the family farm, coaching and selling cars at his business, Country Boys Auto Sales. He never knew a stranger and enjoyed helping people in the community. His love for his work was second only to his devotion to his family, friends, and his faith. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he found comfort and peace worshipping with his wife, Rhonda. Kirby was not only a role model to his family, but to the students he coached. Kirby leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and integrity.

Kirby was preceded in death by his wife, Rhonda; his parents; brother-in-law, David Harper; his sister Geneva Sims; and his grandson, Jackson Waggoner.

Visitation services will be held Friday, July 19, 2024 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains, Missouri.

Church services will be held Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the New Hope Baptist Church, West Plains, Missouri.

Burial will be in the Waggoner Family Cemetery, West Plains, Missouri, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains, Missouri.

Rhonda Waggoner

Rhonda Jane Waggoner, passed peacefully with her family by her side on July 10, 2024 in West Plains, MO. She was born to Veda and Boyd Kinder on October 14th, 1964 in Salem, Arkansas. On December 2nd, 1983 she married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Kirby.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Veda Kinder, her brother Roger Kinder, her mother and father-in-law, Raymond and Mary Waggoner and her grandson Jackson Waggoner.

Rhonda is survived by her loving husband, Kirby Waggoner of 40 years, and their four children: Shane Waggoner and his wife Ruth, along with their children Nylah, Gavin, Andelynn, and Peyton; Kelby Waggoner and his wife Bethany, with their children Chevy, Remmy, and Hadley; Dylan Waggoner and his fiancé Lindsey Hicks; and their expecting daughter Lexie Collins, married to Jesse, their children Jragen, Jagger, and Jazlie. She also leaves behind a special brother and sister-in-law, Don and Vicki Brotherton, and Shirley Harper whom have always been like siblings to her. She leaves behind several other siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close family friends.

A skilled cosmetologist, Rhonda dedicated her career to bringing out the beauty in others, which she did with both passion and grace. Her love for cosmetology was second only to her devotion to her family and her faith. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Rhonda cherished her time spent spoiling her kids and grandkids, relaxing on the beach, cooking, and attending local sporting events with her husband. These activities brought her immense joy and allowed her to connect deeply with those she loved.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at The New Hope Baptist Church, West Plains, Missouri.

There will be a visitation time from 10:00 to 12:00 on the same day at the church.

Burial will be in the Waggoner Family Cemetery, West Plains, Missouri, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains, Missouri.

Charles Richard Hyslop, Jr.

Charles R. Hyslop, Jr. (Richard) was born October 14, 1960 to Charles R. Hyslop, Sr. and the late Evelyn (Pulliam) Hyslop in Frankfurt Germany, passed away at home from melanoma cancer.

He loved spending time with family and friends, when he wasn’t working. He worked in hospitality for twenty-five years before retiring on August 11, 2023 from Super 8 Hotel in West Plains, Missouri.

He leaves behind his wife of twenty-seven years, Mariann K. Hyslop; one son, Ian M. (Hyslop) Bridewell (Joseph), and two grandsons, David and Gage, West Plains, Missouri; sister, Jonie Elliott of Birch Tree, Missouri; his father Charles R. Hyslop, Sr. of Birch Tree, Missouri, and his brother, Brian Hyslop (Amy), Wichita, Kansas.

To all who knew him, he went by his middle name Richard. He was a son, brother, father and in the last few months of his life for a short time a grandfather.

As he leaves all of us to go to heaven, he leaves behind love and friendship and will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation time will be Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in West Plains, Missouri, with the chapel service following at 11:00 a.m.

Norma Crotts, daughter of the late Cicero Morris and Ann “Gibbs” Morris, was born September 3, 1940 in Thayer, Missouri and died July 2, 2024 in West Plains, Missouri, at the age of 83 years.

She was married June 11, 1955 in Salem, Arkansas to Harvey Crotts, who preceded her in death November 8, 2017.

She is survived by two children, Kathy Hobbs and husband Gary, West Plains, Missouri and Lisa Newcomb and husband, Darryl, West Plains, Missouri; one brother, Charles Morris and wife Irma, West Plains, Missouri; three grandchildren, Nichole Hobbs, West Plains, Missouri, Jamie Hobbs and wife, Kayla, West Plains, Missouri, and Jonathan Martin, Springfield, Missouri; two great grandchildren, Kira Hobbs and Arianne Hobbs, both of West Plains, Missouri.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Thomas Morris; four sisters, Nellie Morris, Marie Blazer, Della Cockrum, and Rose Lee Lair.

She attended the Assembly of God Church in West Plains, Missouri for many years. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation services will be held Monday, July 8, 2024 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains, Missouri from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Private burial will be held under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains, Missouri.

Zella Mae Rhodes

Zella Mae Rhodes, 93, West Plains, Missouri, passed away June 24, 2024 at Brooke Haven Healthcare, West Plains, Missouri.

Zella Mae Rhodes was born January 21, 1931 in Ozark County, Missouri to the late John Gunter and Beatrice “Collins” Gunter.

She was married in 1946 to Dee Marshell who preceded her in death in 1994. She later married Dusty Rhodes who also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her three children, Gary Marshell and wife Sherry, Willow Springs, Missouri, Mary Swearengin and husband Bob, West Plains, Missouri, and Kate Rennolett, West Plains, Missouri; two brothers, Joe Gunter, Houston, Missouri and David Gunter and wife Daisy, Caulfield, Missouri; ten grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; thirty four great great grandchildren, and five great great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, both husbands; three brothers, Robert Gunter, Wayne Gunter, and Wayland Gunter; one sister Sylvia Peterman, and one great grandchild.
She loved to sing, enjoyed painting and working in her flower garden. She loved spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel. West Plains, Missouri.

Visitation will be held Friday night, July 5, 2024 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains, Missouri from 7 to 8 p.m.

Linda Diane Barton

Linda Diane (Bassham) Barton was born to the late Talmage and Eunice Bassham on January 12, 1949, at Moko, Arkansas. She passed away to her heavenly home June 19, 2024.

In Moko, she was the middle sibling to Larry and Richard. Linda learned to play the piano and sing on the farm with her brothers and dad. She frequently joked that their farm yielded many rocks, and she was tasked with picking them up.

In 1967, Linda graduated from West Plains High School. Then on June 1, 1968, she married Curtis Barton. They had just celebrated fifty six years together.

She is survived by her husband, Curtis Barton, West Plains, Missouri; two children, Andrea Porter and husband Joe, and their two children, Andrew and Hannah, Springfield, Missouri, and Adam Barton and wife Stefani, and their two children, Harmony and Cadence, Battlefield, Missouri; two brothers, Richard Bassham and wife Quetha, Kansas City, Kansas, and Larry Bassham and wife Elda, Nixa, Missouri.

Linda was multi-dimensional: volunteer, teacher, musician, and business owner. She owned her own clothing boutique, retired from the phone company, owned Sears of West Plains, volunteered with the Business and Professional Women’s Organization, organized concerts, and built up many local musicians, encouraging them, guiding them down their own path.

However, Linda is likely most known for her presence behind a piano, and the songs she wrote. She started playing the piano for her dad at the age of twelve, swinging her feet above the pedals. Then in 1971, she and Curtis formed the Gospel Generation Singers, ending her performing years as The Barton’s. Every member that passed through the group over the years she considered family.

But the jewels of her crown, her pride and joy, were her grandkids, Andrew, Hannah, Harmony, and Cadence. She shared her love of singing and the piano with them, encouraged them in their own activities, and went to as many events she could.

Today we honor her. She was a special lady to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, and multiple Bassham and Barton family members. Along with family, there were other special friends welcoming her into the Pearly Gates: Bill and Joyce Underwood, Bob Ray, Randall Lovelace, and Belinda Pendergrass. Although she is no longer present, her vibrant smile, love to God, and how she made a piano dance, will live forever.

Celebration of Life is to be held Sunday, June 30, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at First Freewill Baptist Church in West Plains, Missouri.

Michael D. Cypret

Michael D Cypret, born on October 9, 1951, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed away on June 23, 2024, in Creve Coeur, Missouri at 72 years of age. Michael was a farmer that lived for many years in the Couch, Missouri area. Known for his deep love of reading, Michael was often found engrossed in his Bible, which he would often wear out from his avid reading. He enjoyed spending his time on the porch swing, reading scriptures, and watching nature shows on PBS. Sunday mornings were particularly special to him, as he cherished attending church.
Michael is survived by his children, David Cypret (Trisha), Timothy Cypret, and Matthew Cypret (Angela). He was a devoted grandfather to Alex Cypret, Caleb Cypret, and Nathaniel Cypret. Michael’s sister, Lois Goldman, many nieces and nephews also survives him.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Cecil Andrew Cypret and Millie Weaver Cypret, as well as six siblings: Rachel McGhee, Naomi Jones, Herbert Cypret, Ruth Combs, James Cypret, and Judy Hopper.

Michael will be greatly missed by his family and friends, who will remember him for his faith, his love of learning, and his gentle spirit. May he rest in eternal peace.

Hattie Worley, daughter of the late Norman Tucker and Nola Tucker Zubek, was born December 19th, 1937 in Bloomfield, Missouri and died June 21st, 2024 in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 86.

She was united in marriage on May 28th, 1953 in Sikeston, Missouri to Gene Worley, who preceded her in death October 28, 2005 in West Plains, Missouri.

She is survived by her three children, Debi McMurray and Scott of Kansas City, Missouri, Greg Worley and Angie of Caulfield, Missouri, and Gayle Worley of Shawnee, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Heather Bean and Jay of San Antonio, Texas, Scott McMurray and Rachel of Kansas City, Missouri, Chelsea Town and Josiah of Clinton, Missouri, Jordan McMurray and Joy of Kansas City, Missouri. Brandon Worley and Cassie of West Plains, Missouri, Jessica Jolliff and Nate of West Plains, Missouri, Kristen Koelling and Matt of West Plains, Missouri, Tailer Ream and Alex of Leander, Texas; eleven great grandchildren, Maddie, Jacob, Luke, Gideon, Jonah, Henry, Oslo, Adi, Dawson, Grayson, Nola, Ellie, Emme, Evie, Ember and Noel, and three great great grandchildren, Barrett, Jayce and Eliza. She is also survived by her brother in law Gary Worley and Diane of Jonesboro, Arkansas, sister in law, Paulette Worley of Harrisburg, Arkansas and sister in law, Mary Lou Tucker of Springfield, Missouri, and several nieces and nephews.

She was a devoted Pastor’s wife and mother and served with her late husband in the ministry for many years, playing the piano and organ and directing choirs. She was passionate about cooking, music and serving others. She had a special bond with her dog Bella.

Funeral services for Hattie T. Worley will be held Monday, June 24, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at His Place House Of Worship Church, West Plains, Missouri

Burial will be in Howell Memorial Park Cemetery, with family only present.

Hubert Dale Baldridge

Hubert Dale Baldridge, a devoted husband, loving father, and doting grandfather, passed away on June 20, 2024, at the age of 60. He was born on November 21, 1963, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, the son of Elvern “Bean” Baldridge and Rachel Price. Hubert lived in Mathews, Missouri and was formerly of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas.

Hubert will be remembered for his passion for collecting antiques, axes, hatchets, farm tools, anvils, and guitars. He enjoyed playing pool, indulging in good food, RVing, racing, and music. His love for his family was unmatched, and he strived to ensure their success beyond his time on earth. He established Baldridge Waste Solutions, a business he was delighted to pass on as a lasting legacy.

Raised in the Pentecostal faith, Hubert held his beliefs close to his heart throughout his life. He valued the importance of family and imparted wisdom with his famous words, “If you listen, you will learn.”

Hubert is survived by his mother, Rachel Price Baldridge, his wife of 43 years, Cheryl Johnson Baldridge, and their children: Justin Baldridge, Derick Baldridge (Shaunda), Jesse Baldridge (Amber), Kirsten Lucas, Tia Baldridge and Samuel Baldridge. He took great pride in being a foster parent for twelve years, and in 2008, he and Cheryl were honored as Foster Parents of the Year.

He was a cherished grandfather to Sebastian Baldridge, Gavin Baldridge, Zoey Baldridge, Isaac Nelson, Madison Goodman, Peyton Goodman, Jaxon Goodman, Benson Baldridge, Barron Baldridge, Serenity McClenaehan, Wyatt Mitchell, Luka Hernandez, Emili Lucas, Wesley Lucas, and Everett Baldridge.

In addition to his immediate family, Hubert leaves behind his nieces Dawnisa Avery, Leah Foster, Leann Moss, Briana Maxwell, and nephews Jason Moss and Dennis Baldridge. He is also survived by his siblings Norma Moss, Bonita Vaughn, and Wilma Collins. Hubert held a special place in his heart for his cousin David Baldridge and Uncle Pap Baldridge.

Hubert is preceded in death by his father Elvern “Bean” Baldridge, brother Paul Baldridge, and granddaughter Addison Baldridge.

Hubert Dale Baldridge’s memory will be cherished by all who knew him. He will forever be remembered for his kind heart, selflessness, and the love he shared with his family.

Jeanne Phipps, 75, passed away June 16, 2024 at her home in Aurora, Missouri.

She was born June 28, 1948 in Buffalo, New York to the late David Smyth and Beatrice (Vogt) Smyth.

She was united in marriage to Melvin Phipps on October 11, 1969 in Dallas, Texas.

She is survived by her husband, Melvin Phipps, Aurora, Missouri; four children, Bonnie Mitchell and husband Darrell, Thayer, Missouri; Danny Phipps, and wife Karen, Pontiac, Missouri; Kristy Hupp and husband Daniel, Aurora, Missouri, and Cathy Pyle and husband Stawn, Aurora, Missouri; one brother, Donald Smyth, state of Wyoming; fifteen grandchildren, Bobby Lee Coursey, Rebecca Miller, Tyler Phipps, Brock Chaffin, Brett Chaffin, Ashley Chaney, Kristen Buckingham, Jordan Bright, Abryana Morgan, Tyler Hupp, Joshua Hupp, Chelsey Hupp, Makayla Flatt, Alex Peoples, and Wyatt Wilson, and thirty three great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two infant sons; one brother, David Smyth, and one sister, Judy Woodbury.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved spending time with all her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
