Anthony Azar was born the son of Joseph and Marina Azar on February 26, 1933 in Florissant, Missouri and departed this life August 15, 2011 at his home in Thayer, Missouri at the age of 78 years.
He was united in marriage November 22, 1980 at St. Ann, Missouri to Katherine Louise Hirsch.
Tony is survived by his wife, Katherine Hirsch of the home in Thayer, Missouri; three sons, Steven Azar of Florissant, Missouri, Joseph Azar and wife, Janet of Wentzville, Missouri and Michael Azar and wife, Sondra of Hazelwood, Missouri; one grandson, Kevin Azar of St. Louis, Missouri; three brothers, Carl Azar and wife, Ruth Ann of Florissant, Missouri, Mike Azar of Winfield, Missouri and Francis Azar of Florissant, Missouri; one sister, Theresa Asberry and husband, Foy of Ferguson, Missouri; sister-in-law, Adelia Azar of Camdenton, Missouri; his mother-in-law, Ethel Hirsch of Thayer, Missouri; six brothers-in-law, Albert Hirsch, Herbert Hirsch and wife, Kathleen, Gary Hirsch, Roy Hirsch and wife, Debbie, Bill Hirsch and wife, Cindy, and Larry Hirsch and wife, Betty; four sisters-in-law, Betty Garrison, Marie Vincent and husband, Harry, June Davis and husband, Danny, and Janice Howell and husband, Johnny; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Marina Azar; his father-in-law, Albert Hirsch; six brothers, Raymond, Louis, Paul, Joseph, Charles and Stanley Azar and one sister, Mary Lauer.
Tony was a businessman, having owned Azar Automotive in Vinita Park, Missouri for many years.
He was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church in Imperial, Missouri.
Tony enjoyed traveling and sightseeing with his family and the time he spent at Hirsch Feed Store in Thayer, meeting and making new friends. He enjoyed life to the fullest and never met a stranger. Tony will truly be missed by his family and many friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Thayer. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer. Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
