Alice Loree Herbold was born the daughter of Henry H. Reef and Allie M. Ramsey Reef on June 24, 1919 at Thayer, Missouri and departed this life July 30, 2011 at Shepherd’s View Assisted Living in Alton, Missouri at the age of 92 years.
She was united in marriage February 27, 1938 at Thomasville, Missouri to Wayne Herbold, who preceded her in death on October 4, 1959.
She is survived by two daughters, Alice Deane Simpson and husband, Gary of Thayer, Missouri and Glenda Ann Herbold of Nixa, Missouri; four grandchildren, Holly, Keith, Justin and Kristin; seven great grandchildren, Billy, David, Nathan, Jennifer, Toby, Ryan and Brady; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Allie Reef; her husband, Wayne Herbold; one brother, Lilburn Reef and one sister, Grace Taber.
Alice was a seamstress and employed by Puritan Fashions in Thayer for twenty years. She was a dedicated homemaker and an excellent cook. She will be remembered for her delicious homemade lemon pies and angel food cakes.
She was a Christian lady and a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Thayer.
She will truly be missed by her family and many friends.
Graveside services will be Monday, August 1, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Thayer Cemetery with Brother Edward Casey officiating. Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in her memory to “Autism Speaks” and left at the funeral home.
