Lucille Green was born December 5, 1928 in Viola, Arkansas to Glenn Roe and Dora Light Roe.

She graduated from Viola High School in 1946. She was the editor of the first annual there at the high school.

In 1946 her family moved to West Plains and she began working for Kellet-Landis Abstract Company.

In 1951 she married Dewey Green, and they moved to Fort Worth, Texas where Dewey was enrolled in Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. When he graduated, he went into the Army as a chaplain, and they lived in several states, including Alaska. In the 1960’s they moved back to West Plains, and Lucille enrolled in MSU. She earned her BS in Education from ASU in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and taught third grade at Howell Valley School for twenty years. She especially enjoyed having both of her grandchildren as students.

She is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Dr. C. E. and Elizabeth Roe and John and Ellen Light, and her husband, Dewey.

She is survived by her daughter, Anne Cochran and husband, Tim, West Plains; her granddaughter, Sarah Lovan and husband, Ramey, Paragould, Arkansas; great grandsons, Chance and Parker Lovan; grandson, Si Cochran and wife, Anna, Sioux City, Iowa; great grandsons, Judah and Elijah Cochran; her sister, Carol “Deanie” Reser and husband, Don, Dunwoody, Georgia; several cousins, uncles and aunts, nieces and nephews.

Lucille accepted the Lord as her Saviour when she was 15 years of age. She became a member of the First Baptist Church in West Plains in 1946. She has been a member there ever since she has lived here. She was a choir member, pianist, and worked with youth groups when she was younger. In her later years, she served as Sunday School teacher, was active in the Young-At-Heart Group at FBC, and worked in the food bank.

Funeral services for Lucille Green will be held Sunday, September 30th, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in West Plains, with grandson, Si Cochran officiating, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 29, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains.

Memorial contributions may be made to the The Lighthouse for the Blind, and can be left at the funeral home.

    We are sorry to hear about your Mom. She was a lovely lady and have always enjoyed hearing from her. We’re thankful to know Lucille is with her Lord now and the rest of her family. Our Prayers are with you.
