Yvonne Barnes

Yvonne Barnes was born the daughter of Gordan Drake and Owen Mitchelson Drake on October 27, 1961, in Ely, England, and departed this life January 24, 2018, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 56 years.

She was united in marriage on February 16, 2005, in Scotland, to Barrie Barnes.

She is survived by her husband, Barrie Barnes of the home in Thayer, Missouri; her father, Gordan Drake of England; eight children, Andrew Drake and Timothy Drake, both of England, Joseph Drake of Japan, Samuel Drake, Brenda Higson, Belinda Barnes, Robert Barnes, and Benjamin Barnes, all of England; eight grandchildren; one brother, William Drake of New Zealand; one sister, Wendy Lee of England; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Owen Drake, and one brother, Brendon Drake.

Yvonne was a kind and caring person, always putting other before herself. She was a certified nursing assistant, working in the medical and health field for several years.

Yvonne was an avid gardener. She also enjoyed a variety of crafts, attending auctions, and traveling with her best friend and companion, Barrie.

She was a Christian lady and loved to write and share her Christian poetry. She faithfully attended the Church of God of Prophecy at Myrtle, Missouri, as long as health permitted.

She will truly be missed by her husband, family members, and many friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, February 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of God of Prophecy in Myrtle, Missouri with Brother Jake Lawrence officiating.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer, Missouri.
