David Hollis

David Dwayne Hollis was born the son of Royce C. Hollis and Nora (Storms) Hollis on December 24, 1959, in Thayer, Missouri, and departed this life September 26, 2015, at his home in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, at the age of 55 years.

He was united in marriage on January 18, 2012, at Thayer, Missouri, to Rhonda Moore.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Hollis of the home in Sapulpa, Oklahoma; his mother, Nora Hollis of Thayer, Missouri; one sister, Debbie England-Grumbein and husband, Eldon of Independence, Missouri; one daughter, Shonda Wilson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one son, Roland “Trey” Moore of Austin, Texas; seven grandchildren, Madison, Landon, Layla, Savanna and tripletts, David, Trey and Junior; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Royce Hollis; one niece, Becky England; and one grandson, R.J. Moore.

David was a graduate of Thayer High School, graduating with the class of 1978.

He was employed at the Missouri Career Center in West Plains, Missouri, retiring after twenty-five years of public service.

He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church near Thayer.

David was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed farming, fishing and deer hunting. He was a great woodworker, crafting many beautiful and special pieces of furniture.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father and Papa, a devoted son and brother, and a loyal friend. He will truly be missed by his family and many friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. Hollis will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 2, 2015, at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with John England and Brother Richard Robinson officiating.

The family will receive friends at Carter Funeral Home in Thayer on Thursday evening, October 1st from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery in Thayer, Missouri.
