Beatrice Elizabeth (Humphrey) Nicholson was born the daughter of Buford B. Humphrey and Iva (Tharp) Humphrey on May 15, 1922 in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and departed this life January 18, 2013 at the home of her daughter, in Koshkonong, Missouri, at the age of 90 years.

She was united in marriage March 6, 1943 at Mammoth Spring, Arkansas to Luther Nicholson who preceded her in death on October 27, 2010.

She is survived by three children, Janice Ballard and husband, Frank of Koshkonong, Missouri, James Nicholson and wife, Barbara of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and Lanis Nicholson and wife, Brenda of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Beth Ragsdale and husband, Rick, Bill Ballard and wife, Alicia, Charlie Ballard, Farrell Nicholson and wife, Sara, Blake Nicholson, Dennis Nicholson and wife, Andrea and Amy Smith; thirteen great grandchildren; one brother, Avery Humphrey of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; one sister, Pauline Snow of Mountain Home, Arkansas; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Luther Nicholson; two brothers, Arch and Oliver Humphrey and one sister, Elsie Todd.

She was a member of the Mammoth Spring Church of Christ. She was an avid gardener and excellent cook, well-known for her fried chicken. She was truly a dedicated homemaker, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by her family and many friends.

Funeral services were Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Mammoth Spring Church of Christ at Mammoth Spring, Arkansas. Burial was in the Saddle Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
