Graveside services for Dorothy M. Burgess, 84, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Oak Lawn Cemetery, West Plains, with Evangelist Larry Yarber officiating, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, West Plains.

She was born the daughter of the late Thurlow Green and Mae Murray Green, on March 3, 1933 in Peace Valley, Missouri and died August 9, 2017 in West Plains.

She was united in marriage August 29, 1952 in Salem, Arkansas to Roy Burgess, who preceded her in death February 6, 2011.
She is survived by two children, Connie Workman and husband Mike, West Plains and Roy Michael Burgess, West Plains; one brother, Kenneth Green and wife Betty; one sister Nell Chopski and husband Don; one brother-in-law Bill Lawson; two grandchildren, Michael Scott Workman and wife Courtney, Ozark, Missouri and Todd Allen Workman and friend Jennifer Smith, West Plains, Missouri; one great grandchild, Riley Scott Workman, Ozark, Missouri, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister, Judy Lawson and one sister-in-law, Earnie Green.

She was a member of the Curry Street Church of Christ, West Plains. She retired from the International Shoe Factory in West Plains. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandson, Riley Scott Workman, who held a special place in her heart. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Memorial contributions may be made to West Plains Public Library orĀ  the Region G Canine Search Team and can be left at Carter Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains.

Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.

    Condolences to Mike and Connie and all the family. So sad to hear of Dorothy’s passing. I knew her many years ago. Lovely, kind lady. Difficult to lose your mother I know.
